- Keep pressure on the cotton/gauze pack for atleast 45 minutes.
- If an entire jaw segment is treated, a special periodontal pack may be
placed.
- Take your pain medicines and antibiotics/mouthwash as instructed. If in
doubt, please call and enquire. The pain killers are best taken before the
numbness in your jaw wears off.
- Have a plain ice-cream/ chilled clear fruit juice before taken medicines.
- Keep ice pack or cold compress externally on the cheek intermittently for
05 seconds for upto half hour after the procedure.
- Eat semisolids or liquid foods upto 24 hrs. after the procedure.
- Blood tinged saliva and taste in the mouth is common for upto 48 hrs
post surgery.
- The swelling on the surgical site is part of natural body healing and can
cause limitation and discomfort in mouth opening.
- After 24 hrs. You may slowly start eating regular food but be careful and
avoid injury to surgical site.
- Removable dentures if any may be worn by you as per dentist’s
guidelines.
- Don’t rinse your mouth frequently in first 24hrs, spit and gargle with
water or mouthwash.
- Avoid hard, spicy and very salty food for 24 hrs. Avoid carbonated
drinks and alcohol.
- Don’t brush the surgical site vigorously, use supra soft brush for 15days.
- Don’t pick the area with your fingers or toothpick as it could infect the
surgical site.
- Vigorous exercise should be avoided for 24 hrs.
- Visit your dentist for suture removal after a week if given.
- Call the Dentist immediately if you have fresh bleeding which is
uncontrollable with pressure from biting on a piece of clean cotton.
- Follow-up is required after each procedure in gap of 10days and then
3months-6months-1year respectively
